Buying supplements from Amazon? This is how it will affect your health:
Imagine that you’ve just pumped gas into your car, you get back in, and drive off. As you get down the road you notice that when you accelerate exhaust sputters thick black smoke—what’s different? The fuel you just put in was diesel. Now what’s needed? A mechanic to fix many things in your car because of the wrong fuel. EVERYTHING we put into our body makes a difference to work optimally. The purer the contents you put into your body the better it will work and the better it will work without problems as you age. Everything you do makes a difference.
Here are the top details to look for when shopping for supplements for you and your family's health.
Cheaper is not better.
If something is discounted, it usually has a flaw. It may cost less but the integrity is comprised. You’ll pay less from your bank account for the cheaper supplement, but you’ll pay instead with the health of your body. Think about food—do you want Taco Bell of supplementation or an organic chef-prepared dinner? Quality matters, less is definitely more here.
Amazon and other online stores should be used with caution. Many of the sellers on Amazon are individuals, not companies. These individuals are selling supplements for the cause of making money, not fulfilling the highest integrity product for your body. If you order from Amazon, make sure it’s coming directly from the company that sells whichever products you’re interested in. Make sure the products are not coming from China or any other foreign country. Most foreign countries hardly have any regulations on safety and integrity of the products sold. This is a really easy way to get very sick and it could take a long time to get well.
Buy Local
Buy local, but only from certain companies or private health practices. Big box stores have repeatedly been caught selling supplements filled with non-labeled ingredients. When someone is taking a supplement, it’s usually to support or promote health, so stick businesses who are committed to you having a great experience with their company.

Supplement Fillers!
Stay away from supplements that have fillers. Here are a few things to look for:
- Coloring Agents—these are all the colors you see in the ingredient list.
- Gluten—it’s in everything! and it’s the number one thing in your daily life to attack your brain.
- This list goes on and on, fillers are usually the last three to four ingredients. Before you buy something, look it up on Google, you’ll be amazed at what you find.
These topics are only the beginning of learning about supplementation and when it’s important to take or not to take them. There are a lot of patients in the surrounding Birmingham and Homewood area who buy countless supplements that sit in cabinets that are taking up space. The supplements are not being used because they did not serve the purpose the individual bought it for—to help themselves be healthier. Know this—every human needs something slightly different to help them be healthier. Each person is very different than the next, and a supplement that works for me most likely will not be what is needed for my wife, patients, family or friends. Read about which supplements I recommend for everyone.
If you’re in the Birmingham, Alabama area, stop in and ask away. I would love to hear your questions!
Keep learning! You got this!!
