Create Your Own Great

Create Your Own Great

Every decision you make either brings you closer to good health or takes you further away. I understand this might sound overwhelming to some, but the truth is it’s one of the most empowering facts of life. I’m not trying to scare anyone—I just want you to realize you have unlimited potential to do whatever you want with your life. To realize that your life is already a miracle, and that you already have everything you need to be great.

Some think that people are born to greatness—destined for it, even—but greatness is simply a repeated cycle of more right decisions than wrong ones. And that cycle, the key to greatness, begins with your health. Without it, achieving what you want is practically impossible.

Declining Health is Not a Normal Part of Aging

Most people look at health as something that declines as we age, slowly and inevitably sliding into dysfunction and decay. This really couldn’t be further from the truth. As we age, we should learn how to inhabit and care for our bodies better and better, and this takes constant evaluation and adjustment—kind of like a human GPS. Unfortunately, so many of us learn to be content with slowly dying every day, succumbing to changes in our bodies, and self- medicating to reduce the symptoms of what is thought to be “normal” aging.

What 95% of the USA does not understand is that they have the chance to be whatever they choose. In America, we’ve been taught that if we reduce our bodies’ symptoms via pharmaceutical medication, then we are healthy—until symptoms arise again, then we repeat this process over and over throughout our lives. And yet, we as a culture wonder why we have life-altering and terminal diseases. We are taught to believe it’s simply the product of bad luck or some unfortunate event. And the most deeply concerning part of all this? We believe it, and we accept it.

Did you know that the United States has the highest disease rates and the lowest life expectancy of any developed nation? Yes, you read that correctly. People want to believe they’ll be the exception—we all think we’re unique in that respect. When that dysfunction or disease strikes, it can be a result of your diet, a lack of planning what you want in life, or a host of other reasons. And it can grow like a snowball: one medication turns into 10, five extra pounds turns into 25, and so on. This is precisely how we have become the sickest developed nation in the world.

As a health enthusiast, doctor, triathlete, father, educator, and as a human that loves the potential of every human to live their life to the fullest—this makes me sick, and I want to help.

If you’re interested and if I’m going to be able to help you, two things have to be done:

  • First, you must be willing to be coached, and you must be okay with change.
  • Second, you have to understand this path is not a quick fix to any problem you have, and it will be difficult. You will want to quit—and you will quit. I personally quit on a regular basis, but this is actually normal and part of the process of improvement.

Why and Purpose

I continuously reevaluate my goals to get back to MY Why and MY Purpose. I’m here to help people, and that Purpose always wins. Understanding your Why and Purpose are important, but that can take time. In the meantime, you can begin this process of making consistent great decisions by adding new knowledge to your life: reading, writing, listening — however you learn you must consistently add value to your life. Your brain is a sponge for new information, and when you learn how to master the balance of adding information into each area of health, you will be able to achieve any desired goal.

Of course, getting what you want doesn’t happen easily. There has to be a system in place for success to happen. With no system, your ambitions are as good as doomed. You need to know exactly what you want, which can take some time. You need to write it down, schedule it, and thus begin the process of making your life into exactly what you want. By writing exactly what you want, you will automatically root out what you don’t want. What you focus on is what you will get in your life, the best way to get exactly what you want is to have a healthy body.

Your health impacts your personal and professional life, your family, your friends—anything and everything that’s important to you. All these things, and all the untapped potential of this life, are ready and waiting for you to live your best life. Don’t wait to begin to create what you want. After all, the more time and effort you put into it, the more life will open up to yield the returns you so richly deserve.

Create Your Own Great

It begins with one decision: will you act or will you procrastinate?

The beautiful thing is it’s up to you, you get to decide.

One thought that really terrifies me is that on my deathbed I will realize I haven’t fulfilled all of my dreams and goals.

And perhaps even more terrifying is the thought that I’m not sure how long I’ll even be here.

There’s one thing I know for sure, though: while I’m here, I will make the most of it. Because I know exactly what I want, and I know exactly what I do not want.

Act now.

Right this moment, do one thing that will move you toward your life’s purpose.

Life is what we make of it—and there’s no time to waste.
